A- Generalities
CBS offers fellowships to enable graduate students/postdoctoral fellows/researchers to attend and present their research findings at the Annual CBS Conference and/or participate at the CBS Pre-conference workshops.
There are two categories of fellowships:
A-1 CBS Annual Conference Fellowship
This fellowship partially covers the costs of transportation, accommodation and/or the registration fee ((member / non-member) /student rate) for participation at the Annual CBS Conference.
A-2 CBS-Preconference Workshops Fellowship
This fellowship contributes towards the costs of travel and/or registration fee for participation at the CBS Pre-conference Workshops.
B- Selection of the successful candidate is based on the following criteria:
B-1 Criteria for the CBS Annual Conference Fellowship:
- the applicant should be a graduate or doctoral student / researcher working in the field of Biosciences or related disciplines;
- preference will be given to researchers below 35 years of age;
- the applicant must be a paid-up member of CBS;
- the applicant has submitted an application by the due date, providing all requested information and documentation;
- preference will be given to those applicants who have not previously received a CBS Annual Fellowship.
Note:The recipient of this award is required to submit a manuscript to the CBS Journal namely Cameroon Journal of Biological and Biochemical Sciences (Camjournal) within 6 months of obtaining the award.
B-2 Criteria for the CBS-Preconference Workshops Fellowship:
- the candidate should be a graduate or doctoral student / postdoctoral fellow / researcher working in the field of Biosciences or related disciplines;
- preference will be given to young researchers below 40 years of age;
- the candidate must be a paid-up member of CBS;
- the candidate must participate at the annual CBS Conference;
- the candidate has to be a potential researcher;
- the candidate has submitted an application by the due date, providing all requested information and documentation;
- preference will be given to those applicants who have not previously received a CBS Annual Fellowship.
Note: The recipient of this award is required to submit a manuscript to the CBS Journal namely Cameroon Journal of Biological and Biochemical Sciences (Camjournal) within 6 months of obtaining the award.
C- Administration of the CBS Fellowships Schemes
These awards shall be administered by the CBS Fellowship Committee, which shall also be responsible for the selection of the successful applicants, after a proper evaluation of the completed application forms in accordance with the criteria outlined above. The number of fellowships to be awarded annually will be subject to availability of funds to support these schemes.
Applications should be received by the President of the Fellowships Committee at least 45 days before the activity. For 2017, the deadline is October 15.
